Is it possible for two people to have different experiences of the same event and for them both to be the truth? Anna Clark, Richard Fidler and JW Clennett come together with Antony Funnell, presenter, Future Tense to discuss the juxtaposition of memory and history, personal and collective truths.

Anna Clark

Anna Clark holds an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship and is Co-Director of the Australian Centre for Public History at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has written extensively on history education, historiography and historical consciousness, including: Teaching the Nation: Politics and Pedagogy in Australian History (2006), History’s Children: History Wars in the Classroom (2008), Private Lives, Public History (2016), The History Wars (2003) with Stuart Macintyre, as well as two history books for children, Convicted! and Explored! Reflecting her love of fish and fishing, she has also recently finished a history of fishing in Australia, which will be published later this year.

Tasmanian Jamie Clennett is a designer, animator, illustrator and author whose graphic novel, The Diemenois, was shortlisted for an Aurealis Award in 2016 and took home silver at The Ledger Awards. After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in 2002, Clennett has worked extensively in Australia and the UK for clients such as CSIRO, The Red Cross, Picasso Pictures, Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical, SBS, and the BBC. The Diemenoisis his first book.

Antony Funnell is a Walkley Award winning journalist and broadcaster. He presents the weekly podcast/radio program Future Tense on ABC Radio National. Antony is the author of The Future and Related Nonsense, published by Harper Collins. He has written for various publications including the Griffith Review and was a contributor to the anthology Best Australian Science Writing 2013.
